Hello Spirit Scholars!
Today is the Friday before Mother’s Day and along with being giddy with excitement at the presents I will be
receiving this coming Sunday (because my family gets better and better every year with blessing me with gifts:)
I am excited to to share todays video with you because it is a message to Mother’s! So let get into it.
First off Happy Mothers Day! Being a mother is a blessing and a gift from God! Children are indeed a heritage of the
Lord (Psalm 127:3) so if you are blessed to be or play a mothering role in the life or a child, that is an honor and a
privilege. Should you ever cease to remember that, ask a woman who is struggling with infertility, but back up
because she may be tempted to slap you for having to ask her! Just saying…
Mother’s, this Mother’s Day, I hope you celebrate yourself and allow yourself to be celebrated but I am going to put
out a challenge to you as well. I want to challenge you to ask yourself with complete honestly what kind of mother
Now while we would like to think that all mothers are good mothers, the state of society (here in the U.S.) shows
otherwise. I said what I said. Many basic courtesies and social graces are lacking to say the least and this can lead
right back to the MOTHER. (Proverbs 29:15)
You see, anyone can be a mother, it’s nothing more than a biological consequence of the obvious. But it’s takes
something more to be a good mother. Are you a good mother? Are you the best mother you can be?
Answer honestly just between you and the most high.
The good thing is being a good mother is a choice not a special gift or talent. If you are a good mother, bravo and keep up the good work while remembering to lift other mothers to do the same. Also remember that children are not static so while you may have hit your stride in this season, a new season is on the horizon that will cause you to put on your novice shoes. So stay humble.
If you feel less than encouraged about your track record as a mother I want to tell you that no matter how long you have been a mother and what the past has been you can make a decision to be a good mother NOW because it is never too late. For some of you all it will take to start anew is an apology or a listening and non judgmental ear. ALL children want (and need) no matter what their age is a good mother and you can be that should you choose.
I implore you to choose to be a good mother. It affects more that just the children under your immediate care and influence but truly it affects society and eventually the world also. Yes mothers, mothering is WORLD CHANGING! Let’s change it for the better starting with US!
So this Mother’s Day weekend (week, month if needed) take the time to see yourself anew as to exactly the kind
of mother you are and more importantly want to be- in general. Write it down and revisit your journaled words often.
In my case I also find scripture to anchor my faith for the journey in. Write down the things you want to accomplish
with your young children before they leave the nest. Write down how you would like to counsel and walk alongside
your adult children at different phases of their life. Write down want you want your legacy to be? Start taking action
to be the mother that God has called YOU to be (and that may not look the same for every mother which is FINE:).
Move forward with patience.
Know that it’s a marathon not a sprint and that for best results you should train for a marathon. Training will come
from reviewing and adjusting your goals, prayer, education, customizing for child, giving, practice, falling forward
and keeping good company. (Hebrews 12:1)
It won’t always be easy but it will be worth it (Proverbs 31:28)
I encourage you to see how much your mothering matters to your child(ren) and to the world! Surely your mothering
plays a role in making the world a better place, as MJ said, for you and for me and the entire human race.
Yes, it’s that deep, but Divine Order has placed you in your role Mother so take the Dive. Trust God to help you swim
and you will reach sound shores as every round goes higher and higher in your Journey of Motherhood.
