Wanted to post this earlier, but have been putting the final touches on my eldest daughters birthday weekend and my eldest baby boy had his pee wee football practice- so since family is first, blogging was put last today:/
But alas, here I am and with exciting money news! Hubby and I put together a budget over the weekend using YNAB! It was easy and we actually had fun doing it (first time that has EVER happened- combination of the software and 14 years of hard work in marriage:). We were even giving high fives! We decided on YNAB because we did not have to input our bank account number, which was a concern more for my husband then me.
After giving our YNAB page a way too cool name, we started from exactly where we are today. YNAB recommends doing that and I liked the idea right off the top. I also liked the idea of living off last months salary, so that’s a big goal of mine and I will let you know when I hit it! We gave EVERY dollar a job as YNAB recommends and we plan to be flexible, something that as two perfectionists we had trouble with in the past. The biggest job our money had this time around was in the BIRTHDAY category! We are going away for the weekend to celebrate my big girl turning 10– Still hard to believe! But unlike in the past where we just casually and happily spent- especially during celebrations- we know EXACTLY how much we will be spending! I gotta tell you, the feeling of knowing what the limit is adds a welcomed challenge to the upcoming celebration!
This is so cool that I am blogging about money! I would have NEVER thought that I would be blogging about money particularly in a public forum, but I have a feeling this is going somewhere good!
